Sarah Blasko : All shows SOLD OUT

Sarah Blasko

If last year’s sold out series of Live At The Quarry introduced the picturesque venue to a new audience, the upcoming 2009/2010 season is set to cement it as Perth’s favourite intimate performance space.  And if you thought we’d have a tough time following up last year’s “Paul Kelly A-Z Season Premiere”, think again.  With the full programme of events set to be announced soon, Mellen Events and Lloyd Events have pulled a rabbit out of the hat in confirming Australian indie-pop darling Sarah Blasko as the season opener on Thursday November 12, in what will be her first Perth show following the release of the hotly anticipated new album “As Day Follows Night” (released July 10).

Sarah Blasko’s live shows have always been renowned for their unique and at times theatrical elements. Her national tour in October to unveil the new album, “As Day Follows Night” promises to be no different.  Recreating the sounds of her third record with core members of her touring band, Sarah will also be introducing some new textures to the ensemble with strings and percussion to augment the line up.

The Church : All Shows SOLD OUT

The Church

It’s not like The Church ever went away, but their latest album is certainly garnering the classic Australian band a new audience all over again, both here and overseas.

In their June 2009 ***** (5 star) review of new record Untitled #23, Rolling Stone praised the band: “The Church, like Nick Cave, have never called it quits, instead continuing to evolve and experiment with music in a way that puts ‘cutting edge’ rock dinosaurs like U2 to shame,” even commenting that The Church displayed “studio-smarts that are seldom seen these days outside of Sigur Rós recordings.” Highly regarded one-stop critic shop metacritic.com currently has the album rated at 82/100, making it one of the year’s best received albums universally.

The Ten Tenors : All Shows Sold Out

The Ten Tenors

Florence, Venice, New York and.... Brisbane?! That’s right! Brisbane sits alongside these opera capitals thanks to the soaring skills of The Ten Tenors.

Theirlast two shows in Perth, first a sell out at Kings Park a couple of years back, and then last year at Sandalford Wines, gave us some idea of the popularity of these prodigies of voice. To see such a magnificent live act in the intimate, open-air surrounds of The Quarry makes for one of the most mouth-watering prospects of 2010!

With platinum records and passports full of stamps, they have taken to world by storm. Initially after “a bit of extra beer money”, in the late nineties the Tenors were unable to ignore their burgeoning success and took their show on the road. Now, more than ten years later, they still have a full-time tour schedule that sees them circle the globe ten months a year. Not limited to opera classics, they have reinterpreted songs like “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Throw Your Arms Around Me” and even “Dancing Queen”.
