23 August 2010 - Lior returns to Live At The Quarry

Lior returns to Live At The Quarry

Returning this season, Lior will once again tread the boards under the stars as part of Live At The Quarry.

October 2010 will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Australian troubadour Lior with the release of his third studio album – Tumbling into the Dawn, on 1st October through Inertia. The album was written and recorded in numerous locations between his home town of Sydney and his current home address of Melbourne, and cemented his long time collaboration with producer Francois Tetaz. To celebrate the release, Lior will head out on a lengthy national tour this October!

Lior burst on to the Australian music scene in 2005 with his stunning debut album, Autumn Flow. Recorded and released entirely independently, and spearheaded by “This Old Love” and subsequent singles “Daniel” and “Autumn Flow”, the album became one of the most successful independent debuts in Australian history with sales surpassing Platinum. A swag of accolades followed, amongst them three ARIA nominations (including Best Male Artist), as well as Triple J’s prestigious ‘J Award’ nomination for Album of the Year.

Lior’s sophomore album Corner of an Endless Road, released in 2008 followed on where “Autumn Flow” left and was a huge success, debuting at #2 on the Australian Albums chart and topping the Independent charts for several weeks.

Most artists set out with an ambition to build a career based on musical credibility and integrity whilst maintaining an independence and individuality in their craft. Lior is certainly part of that rare breed that has achieved this whilst garnering a great degree of success and critical acclaim.

18 August 2010 - 2010/2011 Live At The Quarry Season Announce

2010/2011 Live At The Quarry Season Announce

Following the hugely popular announcement last week that Clare Bowditch & The New Slang will be performing ‘Live At The Quarry’ in December, Mellen Events and Lloyd Events are happy to announce the first four shows for season 2010/2011.

Tickets for all shows go on sale Thursday August 26, 2010 from ticketmaster.com.au (136 100)

Last year’s completely sold out Live At The Quarry 2009/2010 series followed another sold out season in 2008/2009, clearly proving the Quarry is Perth’s must-see venue. Season 2010/2011 will do little to dispel that notion – the line up features an iconic selection of acts, suited perfectly to the distinctly Australian nature of the Quarry’s idyllic WA evenings.

Lisa Mitchell is the new darling of the Australian music scene, the starlet wowing crowds at her live shows and enchanting them with her gorgeous and impressively mature debut album, Wonder, over the past 18 months. Testament to the traditionally varied programming of Live At The Quarry, John Williamson lives at perhaps the other end of the scale; there are few more durable and iconic musicians in the history of our great land. Clare Bowditch meanwhile, complete with her stunning new album Modern Day Addiction and The New Slang in tow, will add a touch of magic to an already magical venue; it’s hard to imagine an artist or venue in Australia better suited than Clare and the Quarry. This week’s final announcement features non other than Mark “Throw Your Arms Around Me” Seymour on a double bill with good mate James “Reckless” Reyne, for a show that promises a set each from their vast back catalogues, plus a special treat when the two come together on stage for a final encore.
